Death Note, Japanese Anime Turned Live Action (Trailer Included)
August 17th 2007 05:47
Hold up, hold up, this is NOT as crazy as it sounds. Death Note is not your typical Japanese Anime involving robots or mystical powers it's a straight up thriller centering around two masterminds out to get each other with a tinsy bit super natural thrown in for good measure.
The Death Note is a notebook that is owned by a Death God. Death Gods basically kill of humans by writing their name and specifying how they die, or not if they don't want to, in which case it's classical heart stroke. The death gods have been getting lazier and more bored of their work as time has went on (might explain the rising deaths caused by heart attacks going on and around these days) and one of them, Ryuk, got so bored that he threw his death note into the human world.
Yes, he was bored, yes, he wanted some entertainment, and it so happened to be found and picked up by some boy genius with the peculiar name Light. Light consistantly scores top marks in his end of year exams. Naturally he goes crazy with power (after realizing its the real deal) and decides to create a better world with it. Soon enough the owner of the notebook comes down and they strike up a relationship. Of course the fact so many convicted criminals start dropping like flies in prisons alerts the suspicions of the Japanese police and they enlist the help of an 'L', who is pretty much as smart and cunning as Light. It turns into a battle between two incredibly intelligent people as they try to get to each other first.
The story makes for some gripping scenes, this is not something for children, dull colours are the concept of the story are in far contrast to the likes of DragonBall Z. If I say anymore I'll just be spoiling it.
Enjoy the trailer(s) for the time being...
